The date's been decided!

Last night four of us met for a couple of drinks in the Electric Bar, and inevitably we talked about the plans for having a big reunion in this, the 30th year since the last of the 1974 – 1980 class of Dalziel left the school.  So we decided on a date.

The venue, well that’s a no-brainer as tradition dictates that it should be in the Electric Bar and the date will be Saturday 12th June 2010, say from 7pm.

The lounge bar is already booked that evening for a 21st birthday party (not us then, perhaps our children!) so the bar can accommodate us and we can have our own area reserved.

We took ages deciding on the date, balancing bank holidays with school holidays with not making it too early or too late in the year, and finally came up with the one chosen which stays away from the school holidays when people may be away, misses Easter Egg, and is fairly close to the date when we actually walked out the door for the last time as pupils.  Hopefully with 5 months notice most will be able to easily add it into the diary and be available.

There haven’t been any proper reunions for our year (as far as I know anyway) and this may be the only big one that ever happens, so please come along if you can.  The small scale one a few attended last year really was genuine fun, a lot more so than I for one expected, so a bigger version can only be even better!

Please pass this information to anyone from our year with whom you’re still in contact, and if you either pass me their email details or ask them to contact me direct, I’ll add them to the circulation list.  I can be contacted by a comment on this Blog, but I don't recommend leaving email addresses for all the world to see, or via Facebook.

I’ve set up a reunion event on Facebook and I’ll do one on Friends Reunited in due course, and of course I’ve set up this Blog which all might help spread the word.

Please join the Facebook group if that’s the sort of thing you’re into, and if anyone wants to be a Blog Author and be able to add relevant posts to this, let me know and I’ll arrange it.  You need a Blogger account but they’re easy to set up and are free!

So, the ball’s well and truly rolling.  Spread the word!
